1. Essential Oils and Aromatherapy 

If you haven’t experienced the benefits of essential oils and aromatherapy yet, then it’s time you do so. There’s a variety of essential oils that work well for reducing your stress levels. You can use these essential oils, such as lavender, chamomile, sweet basil, and more, topically or in aromatherapy. 

Some people may have a sensitivity to placing essential oils on their skin. Because of this, it’s best to start off with a small amount, such as one drop, diluted with a base oil, such as coconut oil. 

Aromatherapy, however, allows you to soak up all the benefits of essential oils without having to use them topically. You can use clinical aromatherapy and allow the experts to treat you. You can also use a diffuser at home, which will diffuse the oils into the air. 

2. Meditation

Meditation is a great way to reduce stress, but it may take some time to reach an expert meditation level. The real focus of meditation is to concentrate on your breathing. You can also choose to focus on an unchanging sound such as the ticking of a clock, or the sound of a pool pump or aircon. Once you begin to focus, relax your breathing and free your mind of unconscious thought trains, you’ll enter a meditative state. 

Meditation can also be done in several forms. If you’re thinking that meditation is limited to sitting on the floor with your legs crisscrossed, then you still have a bit more to learn about the process. This is the most well-known type of meditation, however, this isn’t the only way to meditate. 

Meditation can be done while doing just about anything, as long as you’re practicing mindfulness and staying in the moment. 

3. Exercise 

Exercise is another great way to relieve stress, most likely because of its relation to meditation. Think about it, when working out, you’re focused on the moment and what you’re doing. You focus on how you feel and you’re breathing. 

What’s more, when exercising, your body produces endorphins. Endorphins are chemicals located in your brain that trigger you to feel better by elevating your mood, decreasing tension, and more.

When possible, take a few minutes in the morning before work, or in the evening before bed to do a few exercises. 

4. Relaxing Tea 

Relaxing herbal teas are the perfect way to unwind after a long day. It’s best to drink these teas before bed as many of them contain herbs such as lavender and chamomile, which will make you sleepy. When you’re done with your workload for the day, find a comfortable and quiet spot in your home to enjoy your hot tea in.

Try to relax your mind, clear your thoughts, and focus on the warm delicious tea as it soothes your throat. The day is now over and you can begin practicing self-care by drinking a yummy herbal tea. Do some research first before selecting which tea you want to try and don’t forget to look over the ingredients list as well!

5. Yoga

Yoga is yet another form of meditation. It’s also great for stretching out the tension built up in your muscles from a long day. If you practice daily yoga, then you’ll begin to see even more benefits. 

Daily yoga can reduce your heart rate and blood pressure. It also works well to lower cholesterol and any possible inflammation.

6. Taking a Walk

What’s more therapeutic and relaxing than nature itself? Sometimes, all you need is to look out your window and enjoy watching the birds flock to and from your neighborhood trees. Another great idea is to simply take a walk.

You don’t need to gather all your hiking gear and strap on your hiking boots to get the benefits of taking a walk. All you need to do is head outside and walk around your block. Try your best to take in all of the natural elements around you.

This could be the squirrels playing in the trees or the deer crossing the road. Let all other thoughts free from your mind and only focus on what you’re seeing and smelling in the moment.
